Your wedding reception is a special event and reception guest
favors are one of the main ingredients for wedding planning success.
Wedding favors are used at the reception, as a way to thank wedding
guests for attending. The first wedding favors in history were
called “bomboniere” These were trinket boxes filled
with sugar or almonds. Modern day favors once consisted mainly
of small bags of rice to throw at the wedding couple. Now there
are an amazing variety of favors to choose from for your guests.
Since most use much of their funds on the actual wedding, reception
guest favors that are unique but economical are in demand. A favor
need not be lavish, but rather something a guest can enjoy and
that will provide a remembrance of the special wedding day.
Sometimes the wedding party will choose the reception favors
as a way to assist the wedding couple with preparations. No matter
who chooses what the favors will be, the choices can be anything
from traditional flowers to bubbles. Take into account your wedding
theme when choosing reception guest favors. Usually your favors
should match your décor and table colors. After that the
possibilities are endless in choosing favors. Is it a traditional
wedding? Or a wedding that was a bit different and unusual? Are
your reception guests older or are all your college friends? Ask
yourself what your goal is when you decide which wedding favors
to choose. Do you want to inspire an elegant remembrance or one
of crazy fun? More traditional wedding reception favors might
include matchbooks or cards with the wedding couple’s name
engraved on them. For fun, many brides choose favors such as bubbles
or small squirt guns. This not only gives guests a unique way
to send the couple on its way but also protects birds from eating
rice which can harm them.
For a budget wedding, the wedding party can meet ahead of time
and make the favors themselves out of inexpensive items from a
craft store. To cut costs further on your wedding panning budget
you can give one favor per couple at the reception instead of
per person Some great ideas for homemade favors include containers
such as small baskets, mini wine glasses, decorative netting,
or small flowerpots. These favor containers can be filled with
candy, small candles, flower seeds and more. A cute wedding quote
attached can complete the homemade favor. For example a small
flower pot filled with wildflower seeds can be accompanied by
a wedding quote such as “All things grow with love”
Wedding guests can plant the seeds at their home to further celebrate
your wedding day.
If some of your guests will be children this idea can be expanded
on by filling the containers with wedding favors just for children.
Kids would love things like mini heart erasers, Hershey kisses,
candy necklaces or small toys. With some imagination, your wedding
reception favors can be one of the best parts of the reception
for your guests!
