It has been conjectured that the first bridal party
game was given by the friends of a young Dutch girl when her father
denied giving her a dowry. It was because that the father was unhappy
with her choice of the husband. Such parties are now given among
close friends, which not only helps the bride to get used to her
new surroundings in her household, but it is also a celebration
of the upcoming nuptials.
In a wedding, games are usually played in addition to the food

Bridal Shower games are no longer limited to females only. In

Safety Pins - A safety pin is given to each guest as she arrives,
which she affixes to her clothing. She needs to mention a pre-determined
word, viz., "wedding," "church" or even the
groom's name, and one of the other guests, one of the other guests,
who-so-ever is quick, would take the pin from her. The guest who
winds up with the most safety pins wins a prize.
The Dating Game -The Dating Game concerns both the male and the
female. Before the shower, the bride is given a list of questions,
about herself and the groom. The answers to these questions are
kept a secret by the bride. he questions are like, "When
was your first kiss", etc. At the shower, all guests are
given the same list of questions given to the bride. The answers
to these questions are filled up by the guests in the manner what
they think the answers are. The guests start to grade each other
as the couple sit on chairs in front of everyone and the groom
answers each question "Dating Game" style. Which ever
guest gets the most answers right wins a prize. It is funnily
interesting to find out how many answers the groom gets wrong.
Bridal Word Scramble - The objective of this game is to unscramble
a set of wedding related words and is played by four or more players..
Its a passive game which means little or no movement is required.
It is a game to find out how well the guests know about organising
weddings. The ones who know it better would be able to unscramble
those words correctly than the others. There is a certain time
limit to complete unscambling of those words and one with the
most correct answers gets the prize. Some of these words are given
below, in scrambled form: morgo, grin, grealcmny, reshus, trarge,
smiedsibrad, stigf, etc.
Bride's Recipes - A set of recipe cards are for the bride-to-be.
These are then distributed amongst the guests who write down their
favourite recipe. These recipes are then read out to all and the
best recipe wins a prize. Sometimes, blank recipe cards are sent
to the guests along with the unique
wedding invitations, so that it could be filled up by the
guests at leisure.
